In 2014, Karina Chikitova, a three-year-old Siberian girl survived eleven days in a forest. She had followed her father without his knowledge.
Karina’s father, Rodion, was on his way to his native village when Katrina and their family dog followed him. They all walked into the forest where Katrina got lost. Katrina’s mother could not confirm her whereabouts because there were no phone connections in the village, she quickly concluded she was with her father.
A massive search commenced when Rodion came back four days later without his daughter. They searched for her in the wolves and bear-infested forest but there were no clues. On the fifth day of their search, the family dog came back alone. This was when they lost every hope.
However, the dog led the team to the lost Katrina. With the dog’s help, rescuers discovered bare-foot tracks in the dirt, which helped lead them to the girl. She was found sitting in the grass.
